No problem at all, actually, may be I'm bias, I don't like USB, so, I'm still using coaxial connection from PC to DAC. But I've always been advise that if I need to use USB connection, I should budget around 1K, don't need to go to 2K level, for a better quality. But anyway, admit that I have no experience on this
But regarding to streaming and file sharing, they are different. For file streaming, you need a streaming server, which could be Anthony's room PC, translated audio/video files into a native form which player can play easily, then server push that over to the network for the player to play. Which means in this model, the player PC require lesser power, server PC controls the communication. In the file sharing model, the player PC simply pull the file off from the file sharing PC and play it off when the file are fully pulled from the file server. So, which means in this model, the player PC will require more power and may theoretically experience a longer delay. BUT, a big one, in the home network situation, since all PCs are in the same trusted network, and the network bandwidth should be more than sufficient to transfer files between PCs in a very very short period of time, so, don't suggest using the Media Streaming model, as the setup may be over complicated with little benefit. Anthony, you may only see the different if your source file is very very large and the player NB is very low end. But still suggest you to play it off the share folder 1st, if you experience some delays or interruption during playing, then you may consider use media streaming. The simplest way to stream media file is using iTune. |
