I am using Nait XS with 1sc + Marantz SA15S2 and I found that XS is a very amazing machine that can drive most speakers. However, if you look for extra bass ...then it would be better to try Luxman or other amp as well.
I also bought the Naim DAC because it boosts the Nait XS performance.
One interesting thing I want to point out is I dont use Naim speaker cable because when I use it with 1sc....the high pitch sound will be overwhelming as I am sitting too close to the speakers.
One interesting experience: yesterday I wanted to run-in the power cords for my Pioneer LX73 and Panasonic BDT300. I played Chan Kit Lai 2007 concert, using WW Ultraviolet 6 HDMI cable. In LX73, I chose Pure Direct in order to get the best true sound from the CD...
After 5 tracks...
I had to change to play using my Naim XS, source cheapy oldie Denon DMB2200 universal/SACD player. Vow!!! The difference is HUGE!!! I could hear a very complete sound stage, the warmth of the vocal, the different position of the music instruments was like projected in the air, even a slight echo I could hear...
Naim XS - a really good choice, even I used a old cheap player can have this sound qaulity, can't imagine if I bought CD-XS later.
i had listen full set naim to push 800 sig - tiger eye wood, sound is very good. vocal is very sweet and comfortable. hope i have money to get same set!
I haven't tried ELAC with Naim as I'm using JMLab 806S, don't know the sound char of ELAC. And I'm using Pioneer LX73 connecting with XS via AV Bypass, that means XS as the power amp... so far so good, no complaint. Naim is a bit warm and musical, so maybe you can partner with some amp having good 分析力... Yamaha may also be a choice...
