CHing in case this makes you feel any better, the free Blu-ray player that came with my P-brand TV is dead on arrival (but I didn't check it until recently), although the TV itself is good.
Some luck is often required for purchase and ownership of electronic appliances. A year or two ago my boss' friend's $$$ Tesla had a door that could not be opened, toke months to repair due to the need to wait for parts shipment from overseas.
