OK I see the picture, I have exactly the same Murideo Analyser and was about to come to the same conclusion but I kept saying to myself this cannot be correct.

So this is the issue.

1. The first menu screen shown is the settings menu and NOT the main HDMI O/P menu. If you set in the settings menu 4:4:4 @10bit sfps, on my player, oppo changes that to 4:2:2 @12bits. They do this because they believe that less chroma up converting is best especially if you can't see a difference from 4:4:4.

2. Now if the 203 changes the setting the Murideo Six-a Analyser should detect 4:2:2@12bits but it does not, it only shows 4:2:2 @8bit . Which would seem to point to the 203 being limited to 8 bits. Which I did not believe.

3. I now suspected the Analyser so I did some checks. I also have the Murideo Six-G signal generator. So I connected these back to back via Oppo's HDMI cable and fed a series of different color space and frequencies settings to check the results.
However to ensure I was using the Analyser to look identical to the Oled display being feed by the oppo I connected the Analyser to the same HDMI I/P on the OLED Display and sucked out the EDID, this was then used in the Analyser for testing with the generator.

4. The results were a surprise. What I discovered was that for the 4:2:2 setting no matter what bit depth the generator output the Analyser would always read 8bit.
Other 10/12bit generator settings were picked up correctly on the Analyser.

5. So I now conclude that the Analyser, especially in 4:2:2, is limited to 8bit but when I first went through these test I was convinced that the Oppo was restricted to 8bit output, but now I am 90% certain it is the Analyser.

6. I have discussed this issue in depth with Murideo who are looking at their firmware right now.
The have also ordered a 203 which they should have any day now and will carry out comprehensive testing in their labs using a variety of test equipment. They will share with me their findings.
