I have not yet hooked the Oppo 83 to my AMP.  I just connect it directly to my TV and the picture is just average.  Trust it should be much better after I connect it to my AMP.

Your AMP should have nothing to do with video quality, or you are using isf setting to fine-tune video in your AMP?  (Just curious)

I think you should get Bourne Trilogy if you haven't seen this series before!!  It's very tension!!!

Yes, the quality should be the best if the signal pass through your AV AMP (unless post-processing is necessary).  If you feel the video quality is so so, you may need to fine tune from your BDP / TV.
