Wireworld USB線到手已有一個月, 早前第一次用cheap cheap netbook (XP + Foobar 2000 + ASIO4all), 播44.1 kHz的AIFF正常, 不知為何播96 kHz和192 kHz的AIFF時, 好像被強制輸出48 kHz? 但好聲過播44.1 kHz. 查詢代理獲告之MPS-5 USB in最高只對應48 kHz.
初步試了一小時, CDR表現穩如泰山, 但netbook > USB > (今天只食到48 kHz兼USB屬最弱一瓣的)MPS-5, 兩者表現相差不足10 %
待不日用到S/PDIF, 再看鹿死誰手.

M2Tech / hiFace Evo
USB-to-S/PDIF interface, based on the same technology as hiFace, but with many improvements. Hosted in a stylish brushed aluminum case (105 x 100 x 46mm), with B-type female USB connector.
Main features
input for external supply (7 to 11VDC)
input for external Master Clock (BNC with transformer)
2 x S/PDIF outputs (RCA and 75 Ohms BNC)
AES/EBU output with XLR connector and settable format (consumer and professional) by an internal jumper

direct I2S output with 3.3V interface.
All outputs, except straight I2S, are galvanically isolated (coax and AES/EBU via a pulse transformer). AES/EBU output can be set to professional or consumer mode by an internal jumper. In addition, an input for an external clock is available, for those who have a extremely precise and stable clock generator to be used with hiFace Evo.
hiFace evo automatically recognizes the presence of the clock on its input and switches on it whenever available. This input is also galvanically isolated via a pulse transformer. Three LEDs indicate power, external clock presence and incoming data from the PC. Connection to the PC is via a type B female USB connector.

接法如下 : EeePC > WW USB > M2tech Evo > Gold Starlight 5 AES + Gold Starlight 6 RCA > MPS-5 > Dream System
反覆比較, 用RCA同軸比digital AES好. 此一情形我在網上早有所聞, 因此兩種線都弄來比較, 其實BNC都有一條, 只是家中無機器用得着.
44.1 / 16 : 一如所料輸給CDR約10%
96 / 24 : 比44.1好一點, 聲音開揚
192 / 24 : 大幅度拋離以上兩種方式, 但未能接近(印像中的)好些SACD重播
總括來講CAS重播, Hi-Fi臨場感驚人, 但音場濶而淺, 中音略欠韻味......
此中有很多對CAS不利的地方 :
CD player已煲熟了;
XP-PC質素一般, 下年upgrade;
所有Wireworld仍生;
M2tech Evo仍生, 考慮下年upgrade火牛;
有空會為FE加層版安頓M2tech.

暫時未打算用clock, 因只得M2tech Evo有clock in.
由於Playback Designs不走PLL方式, 其產品不設normal clock in, 機背的Data out / Clock out都是專業用的AT & T / ST端子.
