Pioneer Blu-ray players 2011 - BDP-140/BDP-440/BDP-LX55/BDP-53FD can be made region free by yourself with firmware , and then you need the code to activate it... i have a bdp-440 dvd is set to 0 and i can change the region for blu ray.. manually.. as well..also when you make it region free it will also add features of hdd to play ntfs, as before could only read fat16-32..

3479 Switching HDMI JTAG
3721 Enter code to activate features
5174 Cleaning Log
5175 Recording logs to USB drive
5177 Service Menu
3344 mod (available only in the activated firmware) System Information / Change BD Region and DVDmod

I have bought my 450 in fortress at the early this week, hopping to be jailbreaked . the firmware of this brandnew machine was still 2.09. I needed to downgrade the machine by the use ofdowngrade-450 sp-2014-01-17 file, before I jailbreak the machine with cfw 4.04 by activation code.Once I jailbreak it, then I could upgrade it to cfw 5.05 directly without the need to enter the activation code again.
is that strange? no need to use the code machine again inupdate cfw 5.05 !

Strange, did u check you can change the blu ray region code?
