Pioneer Blu-ray players 2011 - BDP-140/BDP-440/BDP-LX55/BDP-53FD can be made region free by yourself with firmware , and then you need the code to activate it... i have a bdp-440 dvd is set to 0 and i can change the region for blu ray.. manually.. as well..also when you make it region free it will also add features of hdd to play ntfs, as before could only read fat16-32..

I have bought my 450 in fortress at the early this week, hopping to be jailbreaked . the firmware of this brandnew machine was still 2.09. I needed to downgrade the machine by the use of downgrade-450 sp-2014-01-17 file, before I jailbreak the machine with cfw 4.04 by activation code. Once I jailbreak it, then I could upgrade it to cfw 5.05 directly without the need to enter the activation code again.
is that strange? no need to use the code machine again in update cfw 5.05 !
