If for 2-channel only, how will 5i-A be compared with an optimsied computer (PC or Mac) with appropriate sofware? I am confident about the hardware of 5i-A. But for sound reproduction through files, software could be no less important. Like JPlay, it could switch the sound character through different setup---Beach or River mode. Will 5i-A go for this kind of direction?

For computer, you can always "further" optimize it... There's no ending, another black hole...
A hardware player like this, IMO, give you a one-stop solution of "digital source (video / audio)"... That's a "to be, or not to be" question. Hence, you can focus on other things else.

Yes, I have been changing my listening tastes over years, from AR in late 80s, to 3/5a to ProAc in 90s and early 2000s to TAD nowadays. I am looking for natural and neutral sound these days. In fact, I seldom listen to "Hi-Fi" discs now. Sometimes, I even found those 30s-40s' recordings addictive, like Schnabel's beethoven piano sonatas and Kreisler's work even though the sound effect might not be as good as those 60s and 70s. And the music is full of spirit and so touching.
And I totally understand that almost every compoent can tweat sound character somehow. I am not sure how much your products have evolved, but I still believe they are great in their own class. Good luck on your business.

You've been in my shop, you've been "perform" in front of me how much you love and serious to music, however, from day one we met again in Post76, all you questions still mostly concern about functionality, which is totally unnecessary for a music lover as you "perform", therefore, you only "WANT" to be a serious music lover, but you are still very greedy about all funs from machine's functionality, so my stuffs will not be "FUN" enough for you.
