Yeah I have already placed order for CM9 as front channel, CMC2 as the center and M1 as the rear speaker. The subwoofer would be a Velodyne sub. Currently are u still using 5.1 or 7.1? As for the AV receiver, I am thinking to get the Marantz SR7005 and perhaps add on one 2-channel Rotel 1582 (200w per channel) or MM7025 (140w per channel) for the CM9. Do u think the Rotel is a better choice for the 2-channel power amp?

Congratz ching! CM9+CMC2
Why not getting DS3 as surround instead of getting M1, sizes matter?
Currently I am using a 7.1 system (DS3 as surround and 686 as surround back)
If c hing is going for 7005, then I suggest you could use the 7005 for a little while first and experience how well the 7005 pushes all 5 spks,
after a couple of months, go for a power amp, you may have more obvious ideas on the character of the power amp, together with the improvements of sound quality from getting it.
I didn't audit MM7025 before, so I can't say if the Rotel is better or not. However just looking at the figures, 200w definitely has an advantage, but then figures from dealer often fools people...
C hing if you are playing 2 channel as well, why not go to showroom and try the 2channel pre (like RC-1550/RC-1580) + power amp (1582), since the 1550/1580 has av bypass, the setup could be 7005->1550or1580->1582.

I ordered the M1 satellite speakers not because of space problem, but it's recommended by B&W shop since I don't have budget for CM1. Is the price of DS3 cheaper than M1? I have never seen DS3 before, that's why I could only think of M1 other than CM1 and 685.
Yeah i am into stereo hifi as well, that's why I am thinking to use the Marantz's SR7005 pre-out to Rotel RB1582. Ching, what sub and cables are u using?

I didn't really ask for the price of the M1, but it seems something like 2k+ for each, right?
For DS3, the price is official $7200 less 10%, and 686 is $4800 less 10%
It's obvious that the ds3/686 driver is 1 inch larger than the m1, so the mid/bass should be slightly better.
On the other hand, 686 Sensitivity (dB) is quite low, and it requires more power to push them, while the ds3 is easier comparing to 686.
c hing, I posted all my gear list on the first page, you could take a look if interested.
I am using SVS13u + Audioquest Sub3 interconnect cable + Northwire powercord

Hmmm DS3 is a bit out of my budget. Ha, now u made me thinking whether should I change the M-1 to 686 since both are about the same price....Not sure if the 686 is significantly better than M-1? And i am also not sure if Marantz SR7005 (125watt per channel @ 8Ohm) can drive the 686 well?

686 must be better than M1 for sure
c hing you could do a bit of browsing, I am sure there are loads of discussions between M1 and 686 in foreign forums
of course, weight & size of the 686 is a vital factor effecting your setup meanwhile
the problem is standard avamp might not be able to push the 686 (84db sensitivity) well
my rotel 1075 is 120w per channel (though this is just an entry level 5 channel p.amp), I don't think it's good enough for the 686
could well be the 1075 is distributing more power to the CMC2 blood sucker instead~ therefore less power to the 686, I am not sure about that.
so my next target should be upgrading both 5+2 (or 5+5 for front height or bi-amp) power amp to enhance the sound performance.
I've recently bought a pair of CM9 as front and CMC2 as center to go with Denon 4810 for 5.1 and Linn Majik DS-I for music. Any recommendation for speaker cable around budget of 5K? I'd prefer a speaker cable that could help making the bass less flabby and, if possible, reinforcing deeper sound stage.
I was also recommended to use Cereball for the speaker as well as the amp. Any comment on this? Where can I get this in lower/lowest price?

I think c hing should try cables that have a clear nature in terms of not making muddy sound performance
from b&w+denon, thick type(but cm is not very thick, don't worry) + bass type
for ceraball, I heard that they are good for cm series spks, however the cost of the ceraballs knocked me off,
currently I am just using a piece of 黑麻 for support, I haven't tried ceraball, so couldn't comment on that
