Check Version

Remove any disk from the player and close drawer do not put player into standby.
Turn the player off using the small power button.
Turn the player on while at the same time pressing both " PLAY " and "OPEN/CLOSE" at the front of the player. Keep these buttons depressed till OPEN appears on the display. then on the remote control press in sequence "3" "2" "6" "5". Then on the remote control press "MENU" repeatedly to read out firmware version.

Update 吾駛兩分鐘

1. Turn on the player with the small On/Off button while simultaneously pressing the PLAY and SKIP FORWARD buttons. The display should now say INITIALIZE.
2. Open the DVD tray and insert the CDR containing the new firmware and close. The update should start automatically.
3. The display will show a sequence of reading the disc, erasing the existing firmware, writing the new firmware, and then verifying the new firmware. This process may take several minutes. Be patient. When the display says COMPLETE, the tray will open automatically.
4. Remove the CDR, BUT DO NOT CLOSE THE TRAY.
5. Turn off the player with the small On/Off button.
6. Turn on the player with the small On/Off button while simultaneously pressing the PLAY and SKIP FORWARD buttons.
7. The player should say INITIALIZE again.
8. Turn off the player again with the small On/Off button.

DVSP1000 Firmware Update Procedure
Procedure: Download and install the latest firmware update available on the ONKYO SERVICE web site. The following update process takes approximately 40 minutes to complete.
Please read before proceeding
1. Download the latest Update Firmware files from the ONKYO Service web site. Unzip and burn the files to one CD-R disc.
2. Insert the power cord of the unit into an A/C receptacle. Verify that the Standby/On indicator illuminates.
3. Press “Open/Close” button on the front of the set to open the Disc Tray.
4. Place the Update CD-R you created into the Disc Tray.
5. Press “Open/Close” button again to close the tray. When the CD-R is loaded “Loading” will be shown on the front display. Wait until “Stop” is shown.
6. Press and Hold the “FF” (>>|) button and then press the “VIDEO CIRCUIT OFF” button. “TEST MENU” will be displayed. * Any time from 6 to 10 press on time If Display show STOP you need start from 6 again .
7. Press “FF” (>>|) button twice. “Update MODE” is shown.
8. Press the “DISPLAY” button, then press the “REW” (|<<) “ALL UPDATE” is displayed.
9. Press “DISPLAY” button once, “Really?” is displayed.
10. Press “DISPLAY” button again, to begin the updating process.
During the firmware update the following messages will be shown in the front panel display.
“Update of VIDEO F/W was successful”
“Update of iLINK F/W was successful”
“Update of ARM F/W was successful”
When update has completed the following message will be shown.
“Update of SYSTEM F/W was successful”
11. Press “Standby/On” button. Verify that the Standby indicator lights.
12. Press “Open/Close” button to open the disc tray. Remove the update CD-R from the tray. Press the Open/Close button to close the tray. Disconnect the unit from the A/C receptacle.

Note: If steps 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 are not executed within 5 seconds of each other the set will go into STOP mode. If the procedure stops because the 5 second time limit was exceeded you must restart the procedure from step 5 to complete the update.
!!IMPORTANT!! DO NOT disconnect power during the update procedure. Removing power may cause the update to fail!
How to confirm Firmware version
Power the set ON with no disc loaded. When the FL display shows “No Disc”
1. Press "DISPLAY" key and "VIDEO OFF" key at same time.
2. Press "DISPLAY" key.
a) System microprocessor
b) Firmware version
If you continue to press the “DISPLAY” key the set will display:
c) Loader microprocessor version
d) B/E version of microprocessor
e) F/E version of microprocessor
f) CPPM
g) FL display microprocessor
h) Video microprocessor
i) Loader of video microprocessor
j) iLINK microprocessor
k) Model name
l) Destination
m) All segment of TL tube
Turn the Power OFF and ON to return the set to normal operation.
Note: Regional code is displayed on the TV monitor.

Software upgrade procedure for DV7001:
Upgrade reason:
Improvement of playability of DV7001 through HDMI.
Procedure:
•
Download the file DV7001.bin
•
Burn this file on a data CD-R (adjust the burn program so, that only one
recording is possible on this disc, in other words “close session”, file format is iSO9660 and Write Format DISC AT ONCE)
Important: During the below mentioned procedure, do not switch off the set or
disconnect the mains cable from the set unless noticed. This will interrupt the
upload process and damage the DVD player. This is not covered by warranty.
•
Connect the DVD player to a display unit (e.g. Television set)
•
Switch ON the DVD player.
•
Open the tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button
•
Put the data CD-R on the DVD tray.
•
Close the DVD tray.
•
The CD-R will be red and “LOAD” is displayed on the DVD front panel. (and “Loading” on the display unit)
•
The display unit shows: “UPGRADE FILE DETECTED” and “FILE COPING” (very short) and next the message “FILE COPING” will be changed to: “UPGRADING”
•
The tray opens automatically (DO NOT SWITCH OFF THE SET).
•
Remove now the CD-R from the tray (tray will stay open).
•
The display of the DV7001 will show “ERASE” and this will change to
“WRITE” (display unit will still show “UPGRADE FILE DETECTED
UPGRADING”). This takes about 90 seconds.
•
After that the display of the DV7001 will show “UPG END”
•
Now the DVD player will be resetted and the tray will be closed automatically.
•
Press the POWER button to switch off the set. (the set is now upgraded)
Checking if the upgrade is done successfully:
•
Leave the DVD player connected to the display unit.
•
Press the POWER button to switch ON the unit.
•
Open the tray by pressing the OPEN/CLOSE button.
•
Press the button DISP on the remote control of the DVD player.
•
Make sure that the text “V09” is present in the following line, displayed on the display unit: DV7001 V09 V701-12 3

Download the DVP-NS9100_UC_145.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
Double-click the DVP-NS9100_UC_145.EXE file to begin the process to extract the firmware update.
At the "WinZip Self-Extractor - DVP-NS9100_UC_145.EXE" dialog box, click the "Unzip" button.
NOTE: By default the firmware update files will be extracted to C:\DVP-NS9100_UC_145.
At the "4 file(s) unzipped successfully" message box, click "OK".
At the WinZip Self-Extractor - DVP-NS9100_UC_145.EXE dialog box, click the "Close" button.
Burn the four files just extracted to a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc.
CD Burning Notes:
The update disc must be finalized. Be sure select "Finalize CD (No further writing possible)" in your CD burning software to finalize the update disc.
If write errors occur during the CD burning process, discard the disc and create a new update disc.
Burning the disc using packet writing software is not supported.
Do not include any other files on the firmware update CD.

Firmware Update Instructions  
WARNING!! Do not power off the player or disconnect it from the AC power outlet. Doing so may damage the player to the point of requiring repair.
WARNING!! Do not press any buttons, except as instructed, until the update is complete. Doing so may damage the player to the point of requiring repair.
Power on the television and make sure it is tuned to the inputs to which the DVD player is connected.
NOTE: Make sure the DVD player is in the OFF mode. Do not power on the DVD player.
While pressing and holding the "STOP" button on front panel of the DVD player, press the "1" button on the DVD remote control. (This procedure activates the process).
When the front display of the DVD player shows "No disc", press the "EJECT" button on the DVD player front panel to open the disc tray.
Place the update CD disc on the tray, and then press the "PLAY" button on DVD player front panel to start the update process.
The television displays the "STMicroelectronics System Update Utility" screen, and "DISC UPDATE" is displayed on the DVD player front display. Please be patient and allow the process to continue.
NOTE: The picture on the television may be distorted, this is normal.
When the update is finished, "FINISHED" is displayed on the DVD player front display and the television displays the message, "*** SUCCESS *** The target system has been updated. Please turn unit off and then on again."
NOTE: It may take several minutes for the firmware update to finish.
Disconnect the DVD player from the AC power outlet and then reconnect it to reset the player.
Press the "EJECT" button on the DVD player front panel and remove the update disc.
Disconnect the DVD player from the AC power outlet and wait at least one minute before reconnecting.
The firmware update process is now complete.

Multiregion hack:
-Turn on the player without any disc in it.
-Press the Play button on the player itself.
-Push slowly 1-5-9 on the original remote.
-The display on the player should then show "------------"
-Push 222 222 005 255 on the remote.
-Push Play on the remote.


To get firmware version:
-Open the disc tray
-Push Disk Menu


1). 將awaredvd.bin and PRODINFO.TXT這兩個文件燒錄到CDR或CDRW上；用ISO9660和無多重區段，結束光碟這幾個選擇。
2) 拔掉HDMI線！
3) 開機，等沒盤顯示。再次確認HDMI沒有在DVD機液晶面板裡面顯示。
4) 彈出託盤，插入升級CD和彈入託盤
5) DVD機液晶面板裡面顯示Upgrading，說明開始升級了，不要碰任何東西！
6) 等託盤自動彈出，取走升級CD，但不要關上託盤（就讓託盤保持彈出的狀態）
7) 拔掉電源線（或斷開DVD機電源）
8) 等一會兒後，重新插上電源線（接上電源），等一會兒（DVD機會重新初始化，託盤自動回收。）
9) 用遙控開機
10) 重啟系統軟體，按"PLAY"後再輸入“159”；機器上的螢幕會顯示“————”輸入“XXX02700”，其中XXX需等於原XXX的實際數值。（好了以後按一下PLAY鍵），注意，原文XXX是159；但是我們的不是，因為地區不同，XXX是什麼可以參考HDCP的解除方法，所以我們升級前應該先得到這個數字再升級
11) 等幾分鐘後，螢幕會變黑跟著DVD機重啟和變成正常，原來的設置會丟失，要重新設置。
12) Enjoy ! (2)


解除HDCP的方法，不熟識的朋友建議先用這個練習一下如何重啟軟體和抄下這個XXX數字，以免到時手忙腳亂出事。（最好拍下照片，免得忘了）


一）、解除HDCP：
  
1、按機器上的“OPEN”鍵打開碟片託盤。
2、按遙控器上的“Disc Menu”鍵
3、螢幕會顯示軟體版本“XXX01700”，記下XXX實際數值。（按機器上的OPEN鍵進倉，讓機器讀片直到顯示無碟）
4、按"PLAY"後再輸入“159”。
5、機器上的螢幕會顯示“————”
6、輸入“XXX02700”，其中XXX需等於原XXX的實際數值。（好了以後按一下PLAY鍵）
7、機器會在10秒鐘後重新啟動以更新軟體版本。

After upgrading firmware, you have to set the multi-region hack again. The procedure is as follows:

1. Turn on the player without any disc in it.
2. Press the Play button on the player itself or the remote.
3. Push slowly "159" on the remote.
4. The display on the player should then show "------------"
5. Push "222 222 005 255" on the remote.
6. Push Play on the remote.

Firmware version 4.8C:

1. Default value of UI menu Option HDMI Audio=On, Digital Output=PCM Only to improve loss of sound.
2. Improved DVD-V Subtitle disappear issues.
3. Resume Playback provided from stop state for CDDA, MP3 and SACD discs.

I also found that the machine's response increased considerably, particularly for SACD which is real fast. Bravo Philips!
