不過有個疑問,啲data係由nas->ipad->airport express or nas->airport express through ipad as controller? Search過forum,有人話過最新synology firmware support airplay,已經做到direct streaming. 我已經update最新firmware,不過唔知點証實個routing
If you use the DS Audio apps (for iPod, iPad and iPhone), you can select the songs on the NAS and play it through iPod, iPhone or stream it to other AirPlay compatiable devices..
I am using synology nas now, zori, what do you mean "in a limited way"?
There is a surprise. Yesterday, I used ds audio, the triangle button of choosing whether using iPad or other detected AirPlay devices was there in top right next to the volume control and I were able to choose the airport express and worked fine. However, today the triangle button is gone and instead the selection becoming to choose "player" in configuration button. Any Ching knows what's happening?
I am using sinology, storing aiff files (I also installed squeeze server, but didn't use it as i don't have any squeeze player on hands)
I confirmed synology can play music in two ways
1. Streaming mode - streaming music to iPad, then AirPlay to airport express
2. Media renderer mode - streaming music to airport express directly, can remote control by either through it's iPad app (ds audio) or web UI Audio Station
For 2, I have tried out to shutdown iPad after making playlist
I seared synology forum, I believe synology really hears what customers said and do a good job.
Don't worry
From discuss forum, we learn that QNAP is better than Synology for music streaming server.
From other local forum, I learn that Synology eat more RAM than QNAP for music server.
It affect overall NAS performance.
I don't think QNAP will not add this feature in coming firmware.
The idea of Airplay is to have 1 device to share video, audio and pictures to other devices.
Right now, Synology can share audio through their own audio app which is very good indeed. Just hope they may have the pictures and video airplay feature available in the near future.
