The X and M share the same sound characteristic. I could only say the 1000X sounds a bit "fuller" and mature. 1000M shows its speed and dynamic; it is difficult to tell which one is better but they differently express their own behaviour and style.

Terry, you are right! These Yamahas(Be drivers) can't tolerate any "silver" at all. Silver would make them sound bright and harsh, good quality copper will handle them nicely and sweet. If someone wants to criticise their "mid" and "high", it is too early to conclude such statement.

Don't meet me at the Pacific Mall, there are nothing but 老番s so they aren't worth my time. Go to Splendid China(near Pacific Mall, just south of Steeles Avenue), there are two hi-end hi-fi stores plus an A/V store(Update TV & Stereo)inside the mall. Although the pricing there isn't anywhere decent.

    超羨慕師兄儲齊這兩對山葉精品！
    之前我剛買入這1000M時，第一次開聲時接駁用的線材係就係銀線……聽左兩首歌已經有入錯貨的感覺！
    好彩當時手多多，換條單支6蕊銅線試下，真係咩聲都返曬來！

haha.....you used "silver" on speaker cable........; should be damn expensive.

I tried silver on cartridge on tone arm and rca signal cable connection. No, No, No!
