Center Speaker

1) Is it necessary for the Center speaker be the same brand/series as the Front Left & Right speakers?
2) Is it some old "analogue" speaker (my Thiel CS1.2 some 20 years ago) not suitable for AV because of not "fast enough"?
3) Is Thiel center speaker (like SCS4, SCS3 etc.) good for AV?

Should be (But I'm not)

Depend on design of the speakers.

1. It's not a necessity but the dealers always advise you to do so. Anyway try to select a center speaker in proportion to your front speakers.

2. I don't think so 'cause I'm still using my B&W 802 S2 which was in production 20 years ago too. However most of the new speakers, with high efficience, are designed for AV use but not good for listening music.

I'm using Thiel CS2.3 + Scs2 as Center.....
I once wanted to change my Center Spk in order to improve the center channel effect but the daeler of my targeted Spk told me not to mix-up two brands as in most cases there wouldn't be good result.
In my experience, uoy need good power amp to drive the solid built Thiel spk

    Sorry for too many questions . Did you hear the Thiel SCS4 before and what do you think about it?

I didnt audit SCS4 before, I aim for MSC1 or Revel
I chose Revel as my Power Amp is Mark Levinson which are under the same company
