I'm jl113 owner just want to share some experience.
The calibration will smooth out all peak so as to reduce booming in all frequency which is good for playing music.
For movie, you may need to turn the level up a little bit after the calibration.
Also, I found that the e.l.f function is very useful which you turn it to +1db to boost up the 25hz sound level.
