The NP-S2000 can link up with Windows Media Player, also it is able to display chinese ID tag of each song/folder. The internet radio is easy to use and able to access the worldwide station, thats impressive! For Hong Kong region, it can access RTHK, HKReporter..etc
I ripped the CD on the local computer in .WAV file, then compare with the same CD on CD-S2000.
I found the NP is general more silence background, but the dynamic range of CD-S2000 is noticeable better.
Since I do not have real experience in using CAS, therefore I am not sure if using MS Media player over Ethernet would make the sound quality different?! Correct me if I was wrong.
As far as I know, audio file over ethernet should be indepentant to the computer, thus it would not suffer the problems as using USB (voice quality on Asyn USB and various software player). I believe the ethernet DAC has its edge over USB DAC in near future.
The weakest link of this demo system is, the interconnect is not optimised! Thus, there should be room for improvement on the system. As everything kept constant, the CD-S2000 is slightly better on the dynamic range under the A/B test. I agreed that the price is too high, although the NP-S2000 has much similarity, meaning the electronics component, compare with the CD-S2000. IF I am looking for a user friendly music server, I might be more interset on the Marantz NA7004 for ~HK$6K, such that I have more versatility in terms of no. of connections. Its interseting that the FM/AM radio is included in the Euro Region version, but not in Asia and US region version.
As I couldn't find an review of this Marantz NA7004, any Ching has audition experience of this NP for sharing??
