First of all not talking with rich or poor, people playing hi-fi normally can divide into 3 groups:
(1) Really enjoy music - they will buy stuffs very seriously, compare their favorable music and machine very details, once bought, will not change their equipment very easily, prefer buying CD/BD than hardware, always enjoy playing music at home.
(2) Enjoy the time of buying, negotiating, installing, changing and DIY - they will buy and change stuffs very offen, as they enjoy trying new stuffs and making cables/modifying, but they have little time sit down at home to listen music.
(3) Only for show-off and the hi-fi is a decoration at home. They like the outlook of the machine to be grand and fancy, but seldom use it.
Plus people with little or a lot of money, there will be 6 different groups. Seeing the case of c hing, I think you are the group (3) plus with a lot of money, right.
Anyway in case you can get the enjoyment you want, nothing wrong. Go to the hi-fi consulting company and you will find your love. Hearing the comment fm here will not be very helpful to you I think.
