My Emotiva UPA-2 arrived today

It is packed in double box, should be same for the group purchase XPA-5

Becasue it is late, I have only finished the wiring work and tested the sound output is correct/okay but with no detail audition scheduled tomorrow night.

Regular price USD299, discounted price USD269, total USD370.2 including Fedex economy freight to HK.

My only missing piece of equipment is the Emotiva UMC-1 (av pre-amp) for which I have already paid before 30/6/2010 to qualified for the new remote but shipment hold pending for the final firmware(too many bugs ro be fixed and I am loosing my patience-no av amp or pre-amp for over 2 months with a NHT P5 5 channel amp plus this one UPA-2 2 channel amp.

I put the Pioneer 500A media receiver on top of the UPA-2 separated by 4 self-made stainless steel tip toes(making a vertical distance of 2 inches apart) but the analogue tuner is having many "snowy shade" not found before. Is it electromagnetic interfence coming out from the amp? The picture quality from other HDMI sources like cable TV and HTPC remains intact.

1) Video pass through issue - colourspace changed from 4:2:2 to 4:4:4 and some users reported picture degradation.

2) Bass managemet issue- a bit too technical for me- EQ for LFE summed in the analogue stage (not sure about this). Unless your speaker are equidistant, this issue will have the "comb filtering" effect(not sure about this also) making the bass is not accurate.

3) Audio drop out issue - it happens when audio stream changes, e.g. 5.1 for TV programm and the 2.0 commercials come in, audio dropped out.

4) Audio burst out on some occassion and some user reported unable to power off properly sometimes (have to switch off the power button at the back and restart/boot-up again to come to normal).

Still it is the cheapest processor if it works or reslove most of the above bugs so I am still holding on to wait for the final code.

    Sorry, I don't have it so cannot tell you (I have only paid upfront and hold shipment pending for the final code). On the other hand, some users found the UMC-1 is good for 2 channel music (which I don't care too much as I have separate gears for it; my only use is HT) and it employed Cirrus Logic DSP (? same in Cary 11A or Marantz).

Back to the UPA-2. SInce I don't have any av amp or processor, all I can do is connect my ASUS xonar 1.3 sound card via its 7.1 analogue out to my power amps and the subwoofer. Because of that arrangement, there is no EQ or level calibration. So the overall impression is not that prominent as it did in my last set-up in which my old Yamaha 1400 is used as the processor.

Now that another pair of Klipsch RS-42 replaced te Celestion Little One making a total of 4x RS-42 for surround and surround back.  I am longing for a processor to finish my HT 7.1 set-up.

NHTP5 is ICE power. How much for this power amplier. One have been sold with HKD8.8K. Is it reasonable  price. There are some different with ICE power and Transformer?
