just a few tips
1. Set budget for (TV/projector/avamp/5.1 or 7.1 spks+subwoofer/player), if you are very addicted, will upgrade partial equipment in 1-2 yrs for sure.
2. Go for some speakers that can fulfil both av & music, then you save some money for other things. Also, second hand value is counted, popular brands always have a good resell value. 2 years utilization with a 70-80% resell, that's a good deal I think.
3. Planning on how you would implement your av plan and system, cos' at the end of the day if you separate av & pure 2 channel, then perhaps you need 4 front spks. However there are several ways to improve 2 channel sound from the av area point of view.
4. Does home renovation count in your case? The ultimate enemy to av & 2 channel I think is always be the home layout and surrounding materials.
5. Spend more on equipment instead of cables/interconnects/powercord for a starting point.
6. Go and test more brands before buying- spks/avamps/subs, take account into what source/amp shops are using.
7. Does family members affect your purchasing? Some brands are very fierce in av, some are more musical, bring your boss to shop with you, you might have some surprises like buying better gears at the end!
8. Last but not least, enjoy the whole preparation process & setup in the end, no pressure at all ^_^ Wishing you happy buying & listening.
ps. I am just an av amateur, just wanna share my little experience with you. hope you dont mind.
