What should be upgrade 1st (for my old home theater system)

Hello guys,

I am a newbie to this forum.... Hope u guys can help to give suggestion of my current home theater system. THX.

My current cheap cheap Home Theater system:
AMP : Yamaha V2500
Speakers:
Front: 2 x B&W bookself type speaker (Can't find the model #, only know it is made in England)
Center: Solid
Rear: 2 x Celestion
Subwoofer: Kenwood SW-301 (Very big in size, but the bass is very weak)

Criteria:
70% movie , 30% song

Questions:
1. Current Yamaha V2500 don't give me satisfy 5.1 envelope sound field.
1.1 Is that because of the speakers not the AMP?
1.2 Is Onkyo TX-SR508 sound better than V2500 (watching movie with more envelope sound field effect with only regular DTS/Dolby 5.1 sound)

2. What part should I upgrade 1st?
2.1 Subwoofer (Actually I think any 1k-2k subwoofer is much better than this cheap big sub, Budget 3k)
2.2 AMP Onkyo TX-SR508 (any similar price range AMP recommend?)
2.3 Front speakers?
2.4 center speaker?
2.5 Rear speakers (Current listening most 5.1 sound the rear speaker is not very loud)
2.6 Should I buy a set of 5.1 speakers set all at once (Budget around 5k-8k, if buy whole set at once) or replace speakers part by part?

3. Is the latest HD sound (i.e. DTS HD master audio and Dolby True HD) a big different than regular DTS/Dolby 5.1 sound?

1. i suggest you change centre first, if you are using B&W(and if you like the sound stage), then i suggest you to change to HTM62 (around 3.5k) first, and then save money to change another thing later.
2. but if you don't like B&W sound, you can try monitor audio or klisphc, but you need to hear by yourself cause sound is very subjective~

3. if only 8k for whole set (amp + speaker + sub), the result will not good and you will upgrade it very quick
