I am also an ex-HD100 user n have now upgraded to K8. However, the way I look at this China made Media player is that, they are so cheap at  $2-3000 only(about the cost of some Hi-end cable). If they can provide u 1-2 years of HD enjoyment, I really cannot fault them if the factory did not keep up with the latest firmware.

Of course, Sony's PS3 is the only exception.
