Theoretical speaking mechanical contactors do work but the wires used for connecting such devices with the spk posts are so thin that they more or less downgrade the sound quality.

The suggested simple circuit is used widely by the HiFi/AV showrooms and retail shops. Remember," Simply is the best". You can use the best spk cables to make the jumpers too.

Electronic relays or contactors are not recommended because they involve the use of a power supply and a complex electronic circuit design.
