少少Max 同 Fiio M15 比較:
If you want portability, there is no contest here: Drop the MAX and it will chop your foot off. :) In portability as a package (speed, WLAN performance, size, buttons, location of outputs and volume Google services, power, FiiO link etc) M15 is for me no contest, the best price/performance DAP out there - at least for me. WLAN performance of MAX is unfortunately really disappointing. M15 was 4-5X faster than MAX importing from Qobuz. These are things just there and won't change by time.
But for the sound: MAX is still not burned in and M15 has hundreds of hours on it. Initial impression is MAX is more neutral and a bit clearer. Sound stage on MAX is huge. It has more "I am inside the music hall" effect. I liked it pairing with my A18t more than M15. But let's see how the sound will progress.
One thing pisses me off with FiiO is that, its USB stack has a problem under Linux and USB DAC function does not work (usb_set_interface failed - maybe I should debug it myself and don't keep waiting for FiiO). Lame. Windows and iOS works fine.
All in all, I don't think M15 is a replacement for MAX, or vice versa. Two different things, and I would buy based on my requirements.
EDIT: With Stellia, balance is similar but MAX is still a bit clearer.
The Max sounded just perfect with the Solaris 2020 with its massive sound stage and clarity but sounded a little too uncontrolled with D9200.
I am sure the burn-in would be a key at this point but lacks the sophistication as compared to N8 off its tube when using D9200.
Again, in terms of pure power and sound stage there is no comparison between N8 and Max. It would be interesting to hear the outcome after 100 hours of burn in.
I agreed with soundstage impressions. The Max has crazy soundstage and also very sweet vocals
