It's quite obvious that it is the marketing strategy.  Oppo 80 is for general users and Oppo 83 is for advanced users.   They distinguish them by just saying "Not Recommended for Large screen".  

Of course, don't expect too much on Oppo 80 to win more expensive players like Oppo 83, 09FD, A1 and 9004.

I think the quality of Oppo 80 is similar to Pioneer 05FD, with my experience on Oppo 83 and 05FD.

Another OPPO 83 OEM is Ayr DX-5 which sells at USD10,000.  Lexicon is cheap la.

From the open case pictures of other sites, Lexicon BD30 and Oppo 83 are exactly the same except the case.   Cambridge seems modify the power board.

Another Oppo 83 OEM is Theta which improve the power board and vibration.
