Thanks for the info. I set the 905 to "Through" but no improvement at all. I wondered that some ching said the Oppo83 dvd upscaling picture quality is able to compare with blu-ray(of course for same movie). It's hard to believe because it's even couldn't outperform PS3.

小弟用緊BDP 83既兄弟機CAMBRIDGE AUDIO 650BD,之前用PS3,感覺畫質上無想像中咁大......聲音就真係正好多,不過都係買左2日同睇得唔多碟未能下結論,同埋全部都係跟機雞線

O..my..... it is impossible to upscale a DVD to BR quality.   The difference may not too big with small screen, say 32".  If using projector, the difference is huge!

Hi pplover,

650BD has no VRS, I don't expect much on the dvd upscaling picture quality but Oppo83 does have, so I expected much to this gear. However, it disapointed me. In audio side, I have the same feeling as you, Oppo83 is much better than Panasonic BD30 and PS3.

Hi Alzard,

So I wonder how those chings claimed that "if I don't know the source, it looks like I'm watching blu-ray" when they played dvd by using Oppo83. Their statement made me to have a high expectation to the Oppo83's dvd upscaling capability. Maybe my standard is too high. Everyone has different standard.

I have many blockbusters and classic movie dvds, when I compare to their bur-ray version, it's definitely two different things.

Anyway, I'll still try to figure out  to see whether it's the problem of Oppo83's dvd upscaling capability or any setting that can turn the VRS on.

睇blu-ray無問題,聲及畫面質素比BD30好.但唔知點解睇DVD就比PS3差,照計VRS應該好掂.唔知係唔係setting問題,有無ching可以教教.
我的接駁是BDP－83 HDMI ＞ ONKYO 905 HDMI > SHARP Z12000

if you want to get the better picture, please try:video setup-->picture adjustment...... you can adjust the picture by yourself.......do it!

樓主真係信晒其他人D REVIEW.......多個VRS真係識飛咩......"靚到BD咁"真係睇完就算,而且PS3既DVD PLAY方面真係同價位BDP數一數二

尋日收機後，試DVD倍線部份，與我用緊既Toshiba XDE500比較，
oppo 83 輸了！輸得頗明顯，銳利度光度都係XDE500好，
相信現時做DVD倍線機，XDE500真係一個好選擇，比PS3倍得更好。
但oppo 83可以用色差倍線1080i，但要視乎DVD有沒有保護加密先可得。
而XDE500就只可HDMI用做到倍線功能，效果個人很滿意。

For DVD upscale, the source quality is also important, for DVD with good picture quality, I can said Oppo 83 can produce  close to Blu-Ray quality.

I got Denon 2930 with HQV before, I can said Oppo 83 / Denon 2930 win PS3 for DVD upscale. Denon 2930 got better color than Oppo 83 while the upscaling are similar between them.
