When will you buy 4K and do you double dip?

點解成日要考慮隻碟既規格優先?? 想睇一套戲或擁有一隻碟某個版本係個人喜好, 每人評價都唔一樣, 如果只追求規格而忽略內容既, 只推薦聲畫行先內容空洞既就係電影業既悲哀

Well, I thought that interest in the movie is obviously and no need to be said. If you're not even interested, why would you even care about the rest of the spec.

首先要分清潔興趣同關心係兩回事, 我亦係好多討論中講過睇戲唔應該單睇規格數字. 想知道每一版本規格純粹係增長知識一部份, 唔代表一定要最好規格版本不可, 正如剛有Ching買咗Prometheus 4K版本, 之前冇入手當然會推薦買最新版本啦, 好似我咁早前已買BD, 理性既我諗唔到理由因為有更靘既版本又再入手...............除非好鍾情呢個系列或錢多例外

  That's what I'm asking. Assuming you're going to buy a movie that you don't already have. Do you just buy the 4K cause it's the newest  format? Or do you check the reviews and if the 4K transfer does not offer dramatic improvements, would you just buy the Blu-ray and save some money? Then on a movie that you already own and like. What would make you double dip to get the 4K?

  I guess some people will buy a 4K movie just because of image/sound quality to show off their setup but I don't think most would unless they have money to burn.

Not mention the spec, for some new releases, the different between "dvd + blu-ray" and "blu-ray + 4K UHD" is just $4-$8 usd, or even the same price. So which one you will take?

其實唔洗咁糾結，講到咁覆雜喎。可以從以下論述去思考：

而家係人類睇戲，唔係機器睇戲，所有review都係主觀架喇。都好難話信邊個review係最可靠。自己買來睇吓就知，睇完唔啱咪蝕讓些少，賣鬼咗佢囉。早買早享受，遲買平幾舊。千古不變定律。

另，家庭影碟乃奢侈品，購入奢侈品就代表消費者有閒錢。我都知搵食艱難，賺錢辛苦。但玩得奢侈品（尤其是有資金換埋硬件：4K電視、新AMP解新聲道，下下萬萬聲），卻又要計較 double dip / triple dip / multiple infinity dips....要玩就玩得大方啲，咪咁計較幾百蚊／幾廿蚊。

玩「玩具」是要交學費的，要慳就老老實實應付日常衣食住行便算了。諗咁多做乜鬼，留返啲精力工作仲好啦！

（除非你係攞 social security 買玩具吃喝玩樂果啲人渣啦！
  但見樓主都係有啲文化嘅人，相信你唔係。）

I only double diped once(except VCD to Blu-ray,because the vcds are not clear enough to see it and I love those movies)!

Yea, price difference is minimal in most cases but given that they almost always try to get people to double dip by releasing a director's/extended cut at a later date (The Martian is a good example) on popular movies. so It's not really the cost but just collecting too much junk. Guess I just have to get into the habit of giving disc away or donating them.

Yea, reviews are definitely personal taste but I've gotten to know some of the people that does a lot of reviews over at AVS and know which ones have similar taste as I do.  it's also not really about the cost as much as having too much stuff sitting around. I still have Blu-rays that's still un-opened since I don't have time to get to them.

Seemingly you rather spend time on forums and reviews instead of the movie itself.
