     改編自真人真事。故事敘述榮獲普利茲獎的記者 Gary Webb （Jeremy Renner 飾）基於記者對獨家­的執著與揭穿黑幕的正義感，在報上逐篇揭露美國中情局（CIA）掩護尼加拉瓜的反政府­份子，在加州等地廣泛走私毒品，並從中謀取暴利。但 Gary 掌握的機密，大大惹惱了許多權­威人士，於是有神秘強權介入對報社施壓，不僅導致報社停刊，而 Gary 的記者生涯也因此陷­入致命的危機。
