SPECTRE is the latest Bond movie and probably the last installment featuring Daniel Craig. Frankly, I was never a great fan of the 007 franchise and I originally planned to watch "Bridge of Spies" in this morning but realizing it wasn't in release in the New Territory, I found it pointless to go home straight away, hence, I went to watch SPECTRE.
Actually, I've already watched all the previous Bond films starring Daniel Craig. I personally reckon "Casino Royale" is the best 007 movie in the franchise, not just because of the stunning performance of Daniel Craig, Judi Dench and the rest of the cast, but also the emotional story line , the romance between 007 and the ravishing Bond girl portrayed by Eva Green and spectacular action sequences...ah...I almost forgot to say-"Eva Green is always my favourite Bond girl as she delivers us the most seductive and the most complicated Bond girl ever!". "Skyfall" is the highest-grossing installment so far in the series, it grossed over $1.1 billion globally for which was the first runner up at the worldwide box office in 2012, surprisingly surpassing "The Dark Knight Rises" by $20 million. But am I fond of "Skyfall" ? Of course I am, and I consider Javier Bardem the best 007 movie villain ever, I find the story very suspenseful, but it still couldn't exceed "Casino Royale" . Then, what about "Quantum of Solace"? It seems like I still haven't mentioned it, right? Yup, I deliberately said nothing about it, as I had a devastating encounter watching it. Bloodyhell! The reason I resent this episode so much is, there are too many shaky cameras in it, I couldn't observe the action sequences clearly and the story is too mediocre, it's just not worth a watch, it literally sucks!
Aside from "Quantum of Solace", all its predecessors perform very well, they are not just lucrative but also gain good word-of-mouth, that's why this franchise becomes much more popular than it was!
Before watching SPECTRE, I already knew it wasn't gonna be as great as "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall" are, as I spotted that its rating on imdb plummeted heavily despite it being released in a few countries only for a few days, that made me lose faith in it.
I was appalled, what the heck goes wrong with this movie? For God's sake, its production cost $300 million, I really wonder how the filmmakers spent the money, the cost's even far larger than "Avengers: Age of Ultron".
Fine, let's talk about something relatively flattering about this flick, shan't we? There are things I appreciate SPECTRE, the theme song "Writing's on the wall" sung by Sam Smith is fabulous, it's the best theme song in the franchise I've ever listened to, even better than Adele's "Skyfall". Unquestionably, all the actors did excellently, despite the story being fairly weak comparing to "Casino Royale" and "Skyfall", it still succeeds in linking the villain to the characters appearing in the previous episodes, I think that's very admirable.
Unfortunately, there're still so many disappointing moments in SPECTRE. For instance, the story's too weak, it's only better than "Quantum of Solace", Christoph Waltz is undeniably an illustrious actor, but lamentably, the role that he was given isn't compelling at all, is only a predictable villain. The tone is not intense enough, every time, you can see 007 escape from the danger easily, he can even rescue his inamorata within a few seconds, how could we feel worried about his safety? It seems he's not James Bond anymore, he even got tougher, even tougher than Captain America! Then, why didn't Sony just transform it into a superhero movie instead of ruining the 007 brand?
Now, I'm really paranoid for the sequels in the next few years! Have you found that almost all the sequels released in this year are lucrative but under perform? How would the sequels perform in the future, do you have the courage to imagine that? Sorry, I don't!
