ESS Technologies still makes the Sabre DAC, used in the Oppo 105, Pioneer Blu-ray players and AV amps. Burr-Brown, owned by Texas Instruments, makes many DSD DACs....in fact, many Sony SACD players use custom-made Burr-Brown DACs.
2014 will be SACD's biggest year....there are about 900 new titles. Out of the 3 SACD plants, Sony operates 2 of them. Sony is pressing not only HK Universal's and HK Warner's SACDs, it is making the SHM-SACD for Japan Universal Music.
Last of all, DSD download is becoming more popular.

I think he is not talking about the DACs. He should be talking about the specific chip which used to decode the data stream from the SACD drive. The digital data on the SACD discs are encrypted, after it was picked up from the disc, it has to be decrypted before feeding into DACs.
