As I planned on getting a pair of LCD-3 before, I tried the Mjolnir with LCD-3 in an unfortunately rather noisy place in MK (Star City), so cannot comment accurately but I thought it has deep and extended bass and overall smooth tonal balance with good musicality.  

However Mjolnir appears not to be a very good match with the 800 according to some head-fi users mentioning the combo might be a bit too bright, some prefer the Bryston.  Also noted that I asked Schiit and they said the RCA and XLR inputs cannot be used together, so forget about using the inputs for source switching.

For true balanced amp at that price, choices are limited.

Indeed pricing wise MJOLNIR is very attractive, just that it is balanced ONLY, so users will probably have to recable their headphones.

FYI, even in the US and especially for the local meets I've attended, I have yet to notice any combinations of Schiit + HD800 around. I have had extensive discussion and session with some of the members and about Schiit products, and we have pretty much concluded that Schiit amps usually can sound a bit rough and not refined enough for some of the more source/amp-demanding headphones or setups, for which we think that the Schiit amps at lower price range are quite good for what they can do, but they lacked refinement at higher price level products.
Personally I do think that the Mjolnir is quite a good match with LCD2 (rev.1) that is darker and somewhat "muddy" when paired with less aggressive amps, but it can somehow be more opened up with the Schiit, for which I think it can be a bit too bright and spiky for HD800.

Anyway don't take my word for it, as there's a demo around I think you can go and have a try

I agree with some of your observation and cannot relate to the rest as I am fair less experienced on this than you, and my date with the Mjolnir was less than half an hour at a not so decent environment (these monkeys selling headphones should know that a quiet environment is needed).

I used a Burson Soloist SL with the LCD-3, as good as they sounded, the top end was shall I say a bit cloudy?  It was not the lack of details, rather a not so open and airy feeling.  I brought the LCD-3 to the MK ship and the Mjolnir did open the top end to a noticeable  degree, however noting the source is different, I thought it could still use a bit more openness for my preference, and I repeat my preference, but it cannot be conclusive noting the additional fact that the source that day was a crappy single-ended CDP.

It’s interesting to note you also believe the 800 and Mjolnir would be on the bright side of things so that appears to be a consistent observation by most users.

Indeed in person audition would be most important.

可能是傳過話 Schiit 產品開發時是用 HD650 作 reference，所以大家對 Schiit + Sennheiser 會有憧憬 。

其實我都想求証，Asgard 2/Valhalla/LYR 呢三部係邊部用 HD650 來調聲？以 Asgard 2 個價如果推得掂 hD650 其實都好超值啦！

for that you might want to see what they used to demo their products at headfi meets, which I am sure they wouldn't use headphones that Schiit didn't think would not work well with their products.

I suppose Schiit is more active in US and host their own booth in public meeting.  The story can be different in Hong Kong, the agent decided which headphone will be used for demo after all, not Schiit, and along that decision, we have to consider factors such as which are the headphone brands that they are represented, and which products they want to sell at that time.

you are right, I was referring to meets hosted by Schiit themselves but by their agents.
