Many old people in the West live alone (by their choice) and may be suffering from 老年痴呆症 (dementia/Alzheimer's Disease). They repeat the same thing (buying records, in this case) over and over. My mother, who is suffering from 老年痴呆症, does the same thing....except with clothes.
