You might go to Odyssey Audio to listen to TAD 300 as it use the speakers (as well as ATC) for their W4S DACs and AMPs.

If you really goes for TAD 300, please don't choose SLH 3 as its crossover is much inferior.  I had been using TAD 300 for 8 years until 2 years ago. It is a pair of wonderful speakers. But it is very demanding!!! One thing is that it is highly revealing ---  you can easily tell when you change IC, SC, amps, source, or each placement; that means it shows all the weaknesses of your system in front of you. It is easy to drive, but not easy to drive well for good sounds. There are very few chings able to reveal its full potential, except for some very senior ones, like  7308 in R33. If you drive it using Tube amp, you have one with very good output transformers, like Audio Note. If other than tube amps, Linn and Rega are good choices too.

And it is best to have it placed horizontally with "stands" of 28-30 inches high (at least 6 feet apart, better over 8 feet).

Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to compare the two speakers side-by-side. I listened to SLH3 once in a home visit. The sound character is just like TAD 300. I only know (told by another ching who owned the two speakers and looked at their inner structure) that the crossover for the two speakers are different (one designed by Pioneer, the other by TAD) and all elses are the same. And I was told (& further confirmed by the sole agent) that TAD 300 was in fact made in the US rather than in Japan (even though it was labelled as made in Japan).
