Simply a little bit of sharing here as I always saw DSD is better etc...  

To put it simple, PCM in fact, to the very last stage is even better than DSD format e.g. in terms of dynamic presentation.

Don't use it as a major merit on your CAS journey.

A file whether it sounds good or not simply base on how it was recorded and mixed by the sound engineer.  Most files we can get on web are in fact PCM formats... in fact, no need to hassel with whether it is a DSD / PCM or not.  IF the file has both PCM/DSD for you to choose, it is probably a gimmic or simply different dithering process to make the differences, again, we do not know what had been done to the file except the sound engineer him/herself.

Also, 44.1khz or even 384khz... better not having higher hz is better concept...  clocking is another issue for handling 44.1khz vs 384khz

Ripping DSD files with PS3 or stuff simply is a waste of effort.

some little suggestion Back to your question...

If you got 20K to spend... I'd rather suggest you to get

i) a USB DAC ( it has 2nd hand value at least )
ii) USB cable ( it has 2nd hand value at least )

i) ii) are even better if you can get it in 2nd hand market, 1st hand owner suffers to most lost, especially in CAS world.

I would not suggest you to go for the soundcard approach, as 20K surely is not enough to unleash a soundcard approach CAS setup...

DSD files我暫時未有, 咁我即係可以入隻NAS + SSD經  USB再出部DAC, right?

再加個 iPad 作 remote 會再寫意D！{:9_407:}
