Sound Master 76,88.3 or 18.3

what speaker do you want to drive ? if your speaker is easy to push, then 18.3 or 76 is enough otherwise choose 883. I own 88.3 before and now change to 23MKII + 68 to driver my focus audio.

Ching, Peter's place should have 3 pairs of Swan speaker. I don't know the models but can be distinguished by the size, small, medium and large. For symphony, must test with the large one and use the mod oppo 95 as source. It has huge difference if uses the medium and small speaker or use the demo cdp and oppo 93.

He has a power amp 68, which i am using, can use both KT66, 77 and 88. He just puts aside without using it for demo. You may ask him to demo different tube behaviour to you by using it.

At the time i bought it, i wanted to use 88 as well. However, he demo to me the different between 66, 77 and 88. 66 is the best for vocal but too gentle for symphony. 77 is good for symphony, still ok for vocal but less smooth when compares with 66. 88 is too rough and noisy for me. He said 88 is used to drive large and difficult to drive speaker and need to use in large playing area. So eventually i picked 66.

Ching,Peter的300B放在皇帝位左側。那處有一對座地喇叭及一對小型喇叭,好似是 ROGERS LS 3/5A。(錯了請不要叩頭)
另外多謝師兄寶貴意見。下次要試埋68。

Your space and speaker is important. Since my foucs audio is different to drive , so i need a good preamp and power amp to drive it well for some complicated music. My combo bought it from second market in R33 . The first time when i buy 88.3 , i use my old mission bookshelf speaker. The sound is terrible and difficult to hear than my AV amp. It is too powerful . It is therefore, i change to focus audio and this is fine. However, if you change to EL34 tube in 88.3 and even i switch to power mode ( 60W ) output, i think it is not enough for my area and speaker so that i upgrade to preamp and poweramp and now sounds good.

I agree with another c ching who gives you some information about differnt model of sound master. If you use floor stand speaker, you can either use tube or change the output power mode to drive your speaker but all depends on your speaker.
