hmm .. just for 390D, i placed the speaker 30cm from wall which was good enough but for 300, i need to extend to 50cm with room acustic treatment or the bass will be overloaded (actually still a bit even now)
let's start with your gear first, 300 and 390.2 is different class anyway ..
hmm .. since the configurations (CDP & AMP) are completely different, it's hard to make comparison in detail ..
however, since I use the 2 channels as TV speaker as well, what I can tell is I found the bass suddenly overloaded (or boom) few weeks after i got the 300 (that's why i need to move the speaker away from wall), and the voice of news anchor is more solid than 390 for sure ..
in brief, i would say 390 is a bit less in mid-low which make the high feel "silky", 300 now is all round from low to high and i'm not dare to have a floorstanding until i got a bigger house ..
hmm, it's kind of gear matching i would say, when the gears are on similar level, you will find "harmony" 'cause non of them can show the weakness of each other ..
guess you might be fine with 390.2 + GT1 combo since the bottle neck is on 390.2 i would say, just depends on how soon you will change the AMP and CDP, I was just half year ..

really depends on what you are looking for, just for the metal work, it's just cost issue .. but for chassis design, YBA is way above Goldmund personally especially the 3 metal feet + rubber ring damping design, Goldmund just 4 standard rubber feet ..
fyi, Goldmund Cones was by YBA when he was still working for Goldmund ..

Goldmund was once famous about the chassis mechanical grounding, which is something how to mount the PCB and transformer to the chassis, and let all resonance pass to the chassis feet, not sure if they still have such structure since it is not only depend on the material of the feet can do.
