    Sound card = Compter interface + built in DAC, there is always a DAC, otherwise no digital format could become analog music.

A DAC is needed or not depend on your sound card quality, if you are using something professional at thousands dollar, you MAY not need  a DAC since you can trust the built in DAC on your sound card, if you are using something general, even $1K+ Creative which only costy for hiend gaming, not for audiophile, you still just MAY needed a DAC, if you trust a stand alone DAC work better then anything built in.

如果電腦＋DAC，電腦是讀取WAV file然後將PCM的streaming訊號經光纖或同軸或U ...

1. U can use network music player, 好多選擇例如 Logictech squeezebox touch, 直接用 Synology NAS usb 駁又得, cambridge audio np30 又得...好多好多, post 76 都好多post 講,search 下啦

2. Some int amp have build in DAC, like stello Ai 500 (http://www.aprilmusic.com/main/sub02_03_03.html), but i thing their DAC just so so and it DO NOT able to play any file alone , 有ching 買左 Search 下啦

我唔排除某些amp有此功能，不過我不認識，你可否舉一兩個例子那部int. amp的usb能直讀file，我再去查查資料？
如果真係得，咁當然係有多一些電路處理file啦。

For my understanding up to now:

according to Q1:
box A = CAS =好多器材都得，例如PS3, oppo93/95, squeezebox, synology NAS, 甚至某些新型號電視;
box B = DAC;
box C = int. amp;
box D = box A + box B + box C = what I want to have = int. amp with usb input

according to Q2:
for those equipment have usb input it means that it can read digital signal (e.g mp3, but not wav file), otherwise the usb input is useless (quality of sound is another issue), hence, for those int. amp have the usb input it means it can read digital songs (quality of sound is another issue) e.g. Hegel H100, Musical Fidelity M6i
my point is that when I put an external usb (with digital songs) in to these amp. how can it select the song without screen???
