that should output the sound to your DAC directly via USB to your DAC. But suggest you to try out your SoundMax to see whether it sound better than your USB. Because unless you have a very good USB cable, otherwise, the sound is not good, (my personal experience only). So, just try and see if which one works the best for you la. All you need to do is just changing the output path here, you don't need to do anything in the Foobar / JRiver. As per the other settings, you need to play around the setting to avoid some "clicking" sounds.
But suggest you to turn off the "always resample" checkbox as it may not necessary improve the sound quality. But again, play around with it, there's no right or wrong here, just find the best combination to fit your needs.
Enjoy!

a) that should output the sound to your DAC directly via USB to your DAC
==> If I choose ASIO, is it mean that sound is encoded by theCAS Topping ( Not encoded by the notebook build-in sound card SoundMax )
b) Because unless you have a very good USB cable, otherwise, the sound is not good,
==> Now, I use the Topping origional USB cable .Please advise if good "Brandname & Model number " of USB cable .
c) turn off the "always resample" checkbox as it may not necessary improve the sound quality.
==> Is it means to disable ( un-tick ) the box : Always resample 44.1kHz <-> 48kHz ??ORLatency Compensation sampling rate ??
d) Last but not all, Thanks for your kind help on solving these issues !!{:5_82:}

>> Playing a file is "decode", recording is "encode" {:6_183:} , anyway, this question is a bit too technical for me. I "guess" your media player decoded the mp3 or whatever file format to some "audio data" which I don't know what it is, but must be a common message format, via what ever link that you connect to your DAC, it could be your USB, Optical, Co-axial, then your DAC convert your digital signal ("audio data") to analog signal for the amplifier to amplify and then output to speaker.
b) Because unless you have a very good USB cable, otherwise, the sound is not good,
==> Now, I use the Topping origional USB cable .Please advise if good "Brandname & Model number " of USB cable .
>> Sorry, I don't have too much experience on USB cable, but I've heard that you need to get at least AQ Cinnamon or above. But again, my theory on audio is, nothing is really "good", you just need something good enough for you within your budget. If you're using the Topping DAC, are you willing to use a 1-2K GOOD USB cable + 1-2K GOOD power cord? So, for me, I just use my on-board co-axial connection connect to the DAC. Surely there's lots of ways to make it even better, but its good enough for me at the moment already.

>> Resample check box. You only try to adjust latency when you hear some clicking or static elect. noise.
d) Last but not all, Thanks for your kind help on solving these issues !!

This is my understanding ( Please inform me if I am wrong ):
Kernel Streaming與WASAPI是外掛程式,可以讓foobar2000播出的音樂訊號跳過Windows作業系統的混音器,直接輸出給USB DAC,對於音質有正面提升的效果。
===> Kernel Streaming是給XP用的,Vista與Windows 7則要使用WASAPI

I am still a beginner on CAS.Not sure the actual meaning ASIO.
However, a lof of C-Hing recommended to use ASIO .
Here is the Info that I find from Internet : http://baike.baidu.com/view/1189.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audio_Stream_Input/Output
Audio Stream Input/Output (ASIO) is a computer sound card driver protocol for digital audio specified by Steinberg, providing a low-latency and high fidelity interface between a software application and a computer's sound card. Whereas Microsoft’s DirectSound is commonly used as an intermediary signal path for non-professional users, ASIO allows musicians and sound engineers to access external hardware directly.
