Congrats Ching!!!{:1_326:}
I am now seriously considering Niam as my first 2ch set, and would like to seek your advice:
how much better is 202+200 when compare with supernait?
last week i went to Timesquare but the 202+200 set was not ready to audition, the salesman said he needed a day to make connection, {:1_334:}{:1_334:} {:1_334:}(or may be he think i am only 運吉)
i tried nait xs+cd5xs, the sound was a bit "slow" when i played Jazz in the Pawn Shop, not sure if it was the floor stand ProAc that made it "slow"
thanks in advance

你係咪用rca to din線架, 202要入din插個av in先做到av bypass喎, 其它rca in係唔得架。

I think XS and 202 200 is totally 2 different world.
XS: is like a rock, sound is solid, good
202, 200: is like a crystal, sound is spacial, better
two different taste, u need to listen to real thing to decide.

Hi pal,
I use "XLR to RCA" cable. sales said I need to connect to AUX2 RCA input at the back of 202. However, everytime I need to adjust the volume. If use DIN, I can ignore the volume.

I have sent an email to NAIM HQ in England, waiting for their reply.

NAIM's answer:
You can only select Uniti Gain for AV on the AV input socket of your NAC202
28.2 AV Integration (Unity Gain)
Unity Gain enables an audio-visual processor to be integrated such that its volume control takes over command of signals connected to selected preamplifier inputs. On the NAC 552 Unity Gain may be selected on DIN input sockets 4 and 5. On all other preamplifiers it may be selected on only the av input.
To select Unity Gain, first switch the preamplifier into program mode by pressing and holding the handset prog key (with the handset in preamplifier mode). The front panel source mute button (NAC 202 mute button, NAC 152 XS and Nait 5i av button) will illuminate if Unity Gain is selected. If it is not enabled it can be switched on by pressing the same button twice.
Note: Unity Gain (AV Bypass) on the Nait XS is not engaged in program mode but via a rear panel switch.
With Unity Gain enabled on the NAC 552, pressing the source mute button again will reveal the inputs selected by their indicators illuminating for a short time. Repeated operation of the button will sequentially select each combination of the available inputs, and Unity Gain disabled. When the desired inputs are indicated, stop pressing the button. The selected inputs will then be enabled for Unity Gain. The handset can also be used to select Unity Gain. See table 28.10.
Unity Gain only becomes operational on exit from program mode by pressing and holding the handset prog key.
Note: The preamplifier will leave program mode automatically if no control commands are receved for five minutes.

My follow up question:
Hi Steven,
Thanks for your quick response.
On all other preamplifiers it may be selected on only the av input.<-----I have connected to the RCA AUX2 jacks at the back, is it OK?
To select Unity Gain, first switch the preamplifier into program mode by pressing and holding the handset prog key (with the handset in preamplifier mode). The front panel source mute button will illuminate if Unity Gain is selected. <----- SOURCE MUTE button doesnt illuminate at all, why?
I have tried the following:
First press and hold "Prog", then one of the inputs illuminates, and the volume light blinks. Then I use left and right button on the remote to choose the input (AUX2), it works, sound comes out from both front speakers. However, the sound is weak, I have to turn the volume to very high level. Its very dangerous. If I forget to adjust the volume back to low level, the sound may damage my speakers when I listen to CD. Is my operation correct?
Or I need to change the "XLR>RCA" cable to "XLR>DIN" cable?
Best Regards,
Jack
