Sony 40W300 殘影 and setting
Hi all C hingI am new here and recently find some problem of my AV set
my setting is Sony W300 (40") + Sony SS2300 (5.1 amp) + PS3 for TV game and BR player
I am using 2 HDMI cable to connect between 3 of them.
Questions
1) LPCM and dolby digital, which is better?default is LPCM
2) should I on the 24p for playing BR disc?
3) I found that when playing BR disc, there are so many "ghost image" for fast moving picture, but not so serious for watch TV program (even HDTV program), heard is the problem of W300, is it? how can I set to minimize the "ghost image"?
4) Last question, in general, how to set all the 3 machine to get the best AV and game experience?

Answer: I believe you are talking about the setting setting in PS3.When you are watching DVD, since PS3 can support bitstream output to your 5.1 amp for decoding, you should change your setting to "bitstream".However, when you are watching BD, since PS3 and your 5.1 amp cannot support bitstream decoding for DTS-HD/Dolby True-HD, you should change your setting to "LPCM".
2) should I on the 24p for playing BR disc?
Answer: Sure.24p can gives you the viewing experience in cinema since the film in cinema is using 24p.
3) I found that when playing BR disc, there are so many "ghost image" for fast moving picture, but not so serious for watch TV program (even HDTV program), heard is the problem of W300, is it? how can I set to minimize the "ghost image"?
Answer: This is the symptom of LCD TV, ghost image will occur for fast moving pics no matter you are watching BD or TV.
4) Last question, in general, how to set all the 3 machine to get the best AV and game experience?

LPCM係理論上係靚過 dolby digital既, 因為 LPCM係冇壓縮既 16BIT音效來, 照計係點都靚過 DD既, 不過當然要睇返隻碟係咪真係好好咁利用呢個 LPCM先啦!!!:D

我照睇你既第三個問題來講, 你應該已經開左了, 你用 PS3睇戲, 有一個 SETTING係開呢個 24P既功能既, 但亦都因為你開左 24P呢個功能, 所以每秒既畫面小左得24格, 係咁小既格數既情況下, LCD TV最易出殘影既, 所以依家坊間有咁多 100/120mHZ既 LCD TV就係將 24P升上 120mHZ, 好等呢個殘影問題得以解決.

因為睇 HDTV係用 50HZ來廣播, 所以當睇TV時係可以話睇唔到殘影咁制既, 所以如果你想睇 BLU-RAYA都冇咁多殘影既話, 你可以 OFF左你部 PS3既 24P功能, 我依家都係咁.......雖然個流暢度差左小小, 不過一定會睇得舒服過24P見到有殘影呢~~~Smilies006

呢個就好睇個人既, 你先了解左你自己既機既所有功能先, 之後先可以SET到你自己岩睇既 SETTING. 當然你可以買D效機碟返屋企 SET, 坊間有幾隻專門調效器材既碟可供你選擇呢~~~Smilies018

some follow up questions
1) for LPCM and dolby digital, as I found that most of the PS3 games and BR disc has this label behide the box, so when I playing these game and movie, should I use which one for my setting?
2) so what about the other video setting in PS3? like RGB xxxx and another one forget the name, is it useful for soling the 殘影 probelm? As it is very very very serious, unsmooth and so annoying. For my 40W300, what is the picture frequence? can I set it for playing BR?
3) Can talk more about the 24P function? as seems it should be good for movie but not good for LCD panel. But why this have no problem for other display platform (I guess)?
4) 坊間有幾隻專門調效器材既碟可供你選擇----> any recommendation?
I will try to off the 24P tonight and see can solve the problem, and sure will share with all brother of my 1st home theater.

你呢個問題就要睇下你係用咩 DISPLAY勒......投射好似冇殘影問題既, 所以用投射就一定用 24P好好多,
如果係 LCD TV既話, 有 MOTION FLOW功能既就開 MOTION FLOW, 有 100/120HZ功能就開100/120HZ功能,

洋蔥兄已經解釋左, 總之有LPCM或HD AUDIO FORMAT既碟, 你就 SET LPCM咁出 AMP, 如果係舊果D DD5.1/DTS, 就用 BITSTREAM出就得架勒, 你可以開左隻碟之後先係 AV SETTING入面攪既!!

RGB同Y Pb / CbPr / Cr 呢個應該係 FOR顏色既, 對殘影應該唔關事的. 你試下係 PS3既 MENU入面, 將 "BD 1080p 24Hz輸出(HDMI)"關左佢, 再睇下碟睇下會唔會好好多!! 我就覺得好好多勒!!!~

24P即係每秒有24格圖片係電影菲林內, 即係每秒有24格既更新率, 一般睇電視有 50格, 而因為電影菲林本身就係 24格, 而blu-ray本身既收錄又係收 24格來收錄, 所以理論上用返 24p來睇就一定係最有電影感既, 不過以我個人既經驗來睇, 如果部 LCD TV係冇100/120HZ果D類似功能既, 就算快到 6微秒既 LCD TV, 用 24P來睇 BLU-RAY碟, 都一樣有幾明顯既殘影呢, 如果唔開呢個24P既功能, 就會用返 3:2 PULLDOWN技術去處理整成 60HZ, 咁即係每秒變返 60格, 殘影問題就會小好多呢!!!
4) 坊間有幾隻專門調效器材既碟可供你選擇----> any recommendation?
