Marantz UD8004 universal player
本帖最後由 tofu1978 於 2010-10-20 19:02 編輯This lovely baby has joined my family for almost 1/2 a month and I believe it is time to have a brief sharing with you guys in 2 categories.
AV:
I owned 2 BDPs, Pioneer 51FD and CA 650BD before 8004 came onboard.I am not trying to criticize their performance, but it is just not up to my satisfaction and full enjoyment although they both are good machines.The main reason for this upgrade is due to fact that both do not do well when you project to a 100" screen.My setup for AV is as the following:
Screen: OS Pure Plus II 100"
Amp: Yamaha DSP-Z7
Source: Marantz UD8004
Cable: 10M Supra HDMI from Z7 to HW-10, WW SSL from BDP to Z7, WW UV from Z7 to 50" Plasma TV
Speaker: Klipsch RF52 front, RC52 Center, RS-42 Surround, RC10 Presence, SVS PC12 Sub
Several BDs were tested before upgrade.Previously I enjoy using 650BD and it surely does outperform 51FD both video- and audio-wise.Unfortunately, when I played "Batman: The Dark Knight", I noticed that objects are not very well-defined and do not carry a concrete outline(there is a scene you can see Joker's face by close-up when he was kept in curiosity in police station). Another scene which Batman flied over HK buildings and I find the same shortfall appears was also tested.
When it comes to action movies, image is sort of laggoing and you can almost see a "tail" for fast or even not-so-fast objects.As Z7 features a ABT-2010 video chip, I started to tune picture quality with my amp, BDP and projector.It is sad to say that it won't help much.
After buying 8004, I no longer find any problems as mentioned from the above, except lagging can still be found for fast movie objects, but situation has been eased.DVD upscaling win 650BD by far for no doubt.8004's audio performance is much better than before and it gives you sort of a wider soundstage and warmer sound that allows you to hear more details absolutely.For example, I played "Raymond Lam" new concert BD (don't laugh becoz my boss loves Raymond).When "No Sing K" was singing on stage with Raymond, I could hear only Raymond's voice before upgrade, and now I can hear Mr. Ng's voice although it is weak.
2-Channel:
I used to own a Onix CD-10 CD player, and setup was from CDP -> Dac Magic -> Amp -> Speaker (clone 1SC).I am not very into 2 channels but can sharing my findings here.
In terms of dynamic and details, UD8004 wins by far.I am quite surprise that a universal player can delivery such great sound (maybe my standard is low).It has a better control of the bass, while high can hit higher than before while giving a airy feel.Sound stage is wider but a bit pulling back.Now all instruments are more defined and you can actually hear each of them.Another surprise is piano and violin sound real.I have almost given up digital out because I fall in love with 8004's analogue out.It is just a sweet little player that I have ever owned (also my first universal player).
In conclusion, at the price of over $10K, UD8004 is highly recommended if you love to watch movie and sometimes listen to music.Its pure direct mode for music, and its video performance (with a ABT-2010 chip) will not disappoint you at all. Seems this a a very good bd player{:6_193:}
Thanks for your sharing!! IF it is 2HDMI output{:1_341:} no need 2 HDMI outputs 本帖最後由 toysonline 於 2010-10-20 13:57 編輯
Because I havethe other brand BD player .
.One is1 hdmi output..
other is 2 hdmi output(one for pic.one for sound)
THe 2 hdmi output player is better than more 10% pic Qty and sound Qty{:1_253:}
Anyway...UD 8004 is a GOOD BD player{:1_326:} 2 HDMI outputs is 9004? Agree, since i used it for near a month and the 2 ch analogue out put very good.{:6_193:} a sales once told me its analogue part can be compared to SA15, but less in dynamic
i doubt if this is true, but i definitely love UD8004's analogue output nice gear{:6_193:}
i also want to buy it but {:6_203:} "No Sing K" 把聲咁沉都聽到~ {:6_193:}
