Yes, I also is thinking of which method to use.
As Z-7 only can use Front Present Speaker or Surround Back Speaker ma.
But from my experience, I would use Front Present Speaker more often than the Surround Back Speaker.
Then I think is it better to connect the XPA-5 as below? Am I right?
1 x Center Speaker
2 x Surround Speaker
2 x Front Present Speaker
The Surround Back Speaker will directly connect to Z-7 lor.

All 9.1 speaker are connected but only use Z-7 to switch using between Front Present or Surround Back only lor.
For the Front Speaker, I am connect to my Int Amp for using the same speaker ma.
So, if I am using the XPA-5, then only Surround Back Speaker will connect to the Z-7.

SC-LX71 + RB-51 + RC-52 + Omni-150
唔係到時買左後級之後又要走去換喇叭

I think presence speakers are the main point of Yamaha. So, your choice I think it's damn right decision.
