If you won't use BDP-83SE for CD playback, OPPO BDP-83 is fine ! But OPPO 83SE may easily KO your CD player{:6_170:}, what player you are using !
OPPO BDP-83, is much faster in its respond and disc loading time, much better Picture quality, sharper image, richer colour, clean with lesser noise and superb quality in DVD upscaling when compare with PanXXXXXX BD30. {:6_193:}
I am Pioneer BDP-LX71 user,I also want to know what is the different between Pioneer BDP-LX71 and Oppo 83SE {:6_141:}
For my opinion if I want to upgarde,I will be upgarde to Pioneer BDP-LX91{:6_134:}

If you are happy with Pioneer, sure upgrade to LX91 la.
My initial reason of changing 05FD to 83 was mainly the operations and disk compatibility. 09FD/LX91 could not meet my requirements. That's why I think of 83.But the 1st time I played with Oppo 83, my mouth became "O" on its video quality. Up to now, no impluse to change to other players now (haha, maybe I just a cheap cheap 50" plasma).

Ditto, and same to the first time after I upgrade my 83 to 83SE, the 2 channel RCA playback alsomake mymouth became "O" on its sound quality as well as its huge improvement.
I never thought of using Bluray player as my CD playback machine before upgrading to 83SE, I got totally seperated system (Amp, 2 CD players, DAC and speakers) for 2 channel music. I do my upgrade is just becos I heard of (not yet confirm at that time) Lexxxxx is using BDP-83 as its OEM, so I guess would it be 83SE ??? cos its asking price is 7 times of 83, I won't expect Lexxxxx just repackage 83 to be its first BD player instead of 83SE !
