Cool, master is master!
FYI, I got a 30lbs ground box with 1 plug only, DIY from a c hing here.Although I connect it to the preamp only, other AV apparatus in my flat (e.g. TV, computer monitor) also enjoy the improvement. Interesting.
That c hing now is using a 100lbs ground box with 1 plug only.He said it's much more powerful than 30lbs, that's why he sold it to me.
If u made one, maybe make it as big as possible, with all the stones grounded inside.

BTW, netbook can produce sound, if u want better sound, u hv to use more powerful CPU and better ram and motherboard with some tweaks and also, a good LPS.
Of course, take ur time and enjoy music first. {:1_254:}

The EeePC has a single core ATOM with 1 gb ram. I have another Netbook with dual core cpu and 2gb ram. I will perform AB test later. I do have a new Zenbook with i7 and 8gb ram. Since netbooks are fanless should it not be a better choice?
What hardware have you tested with? pls share.

Voyage mpd only needs several hundred M memory and storage. It will cache the music files if u have ample of ram.In my case, it can cache at least a SACD music inside.
I've used these items for CAS in previous yrs,
1) a very old C2D notebook,
2) PC engine Alix http://www.pcengines.ch/alix3d2.htm, as it was the Voyage MPD Kit
3) PC engine APU http://www.pcengines.ch/apu.htm, as it was the Voyage MPD Kit 2.0 http://store.voyage.hk/KMPD3d.php?id=129
4) cubox-i4pro
5) Taobao i5 fanless PC, this is really impressing and worth every penny, I used almost 2 yrs, asand it can use my favorite optical USB https://world.taobao.com/item/39315262019.htm?fromSite=main&spm=a312a.7700824.w4002-12117441977.29.HttutR
6) fanless i7 on a fanless mini-ITX board for a few months
The more powerful the CPU , the more analytical and wider and solid sound stage.
For the memory, u don't need a lot, but get the low latency one, e.g. those 8-8-8 or 7-8-8 ram
And in BIOS, disabling the hyperthreading/multithreading function, speedstep function (that means u also hv to fix the CPU at a certain speed), virtualization function, also manual input the ram speed, and disabling all the unnecessary function to help the CPU to concentrate on the music playback.Even everyone knows that most of the CPU is more than capable for such highly trimmed/tweaked linux music playback, in most of CAS players' experience, the less the work for the CPU, the better the sound.{:1_254:}

In this case, an i7 fanless setup should be best sounding. Perhaps something like this:

P.S. Thx for the info. I couldn't find any answers in Google regarding this issue.

I see..I guess this i7 model can reproduce better sound than the i5 model.
In fact, my new fanless bigger PC reproduces better sound than that Taobao fanless pc, but the improvement is not proportional to the be price difference.It could be due to my system is not up to par, or the Taobao really got incredibly high C/P.
As I'm going to sell my i5 Taobao fanless PC after acquired the new big one, if at the moment you just want to test and MAY move to a more aggressive fanless PC, you may consider to buy that 2nd hand from me to save few hundred.
