師兄，要整淨牛？ or 成品 PSU (power supply) ? ........何不購成品？ ( ranged: $600 ~ $4,000)
國內淘寶 or Taiwan 都有靚模擬PSU成品，你去search, 揀下喇。比 magic-TV/ STB 用，毋須太"執著"的；至多預購多幾款 電容/整流子作必要時調校之用，ok喇。

For both docking and magic TV, use switching PSU is ok ga la.
Unless you never plug a hard disk (2.5" or 3.5"), then you can use good PSU with good image quality. Otherwise you have to modify the DC circuit for the hard disk and use two power supply source.
Because hard disk, especially the desktop size (3.5") kind, requires large current when starting the motor, if you use linear PSU in this case, you need to buy an overrated PSU for it, that is waste money and waste space. kenneth_obee 發表於 2013-3-8 09:13 static/image/common/back.gif

For DIY, it's hard to control the cost. Because of quantity and your mindset.
quantity - you usually only need 1 or 2 piece of electronic item, the shipping cost and unit price usually high
mindset - DIYer usually want to make something as perfect as possible, or as cheap as possible... It needs experience to justify which part to 妥協, which part to 重料.
Buy factory made PSU has no the above two problems:
quantity - they buy in large lot, much cheaper raw material cost
mindset - they did a lot, with lot of experience, they know where to 妥協, and usually they won't 重料, only when the customer can "see". E.g. use beautiful, large capacitors.
For PSU, like Billy suggested:
1. Teradak - I've been used. It's bad quality, lot of 妥協. If you follow it DIY, you can make the same thing at same price, but you wasted your time.
2. KECES - I've been used, it is good quality, with good selection for place of 重料. Highly recommend.
3. Teddy - I havn't used, but from people's comment, it's good PSU
You may see some other PSUs, let's name it and we could discuss.
Finally, my little experience for linear PSU, quality depends on (in order)
1. Circuit design
2. Transformer
3. Capacitor
There's no secret, no need to buy those claim using "rare, NOS, expensive electronic parts". With cheap cheap electronic parts but good circuit design, everyone can make good linear PSU. kefana 發表於 2013-3-8 09:44 static/image/common/back.gif
