Main difference is the X30 has now lens memory similar to the Panasonic AE4000 and up but the JVC all the lens shift and focus are motorized and the lens memory also works in 3D so better in this regard than what the Panasonic AE7000 offers.The X30 also comes with optional new 3D glasses, USB chargeable, which are said to be brighter under 3D mode.Also added 2D to 3D conversion and a LAN port at the back for future possible firmware update via network connection.The emitter is the same.
Some overseas forum posts said crosstalk/ghosting under 3D are a bit improved but I think that is only case by case and seriously doubt there is any mechanical or design differences within the machine. So I would say they are essentially the same.
On the other hand the X30 lost the motor lens cover and replaced by a plastic cover, but hey you have to cut cost somewhere.The new price is also full USD1,000 cheaper !! {:1_249:} C hing 恭喜今日我都試邊部X30、2D Very Good!但係3D就冇Sony 30ES咁出咁立體、、、我衣家都十五 ...

Hi hatori, JVC is not very strong in the 3D department so if you are mainly into 3D or gaming, the Sony might be a better choice, I think their bulbs are also cheaper. For 2D, native contrast and black level, I would seriously consider JVC, which were my reason for getting it.Of course we all have our favorite so that's just my own opinion.
