《Star Wars》是美國導演佐治·魯卡斯所製作拍攝的一系列科幻電影，同時也是該系列中最早拍攝的第四集最初的片名，其後採取插敘法，先拍正傳四至六集，再拍前傳一至三集，最後才拍後傳七至九集。九部電影合稱為《天行者傳奇》系列，佐治魯卡斯1977年上映 EP4《星球大戰-新的希望》的故事時，曾說當年受到特技效果技術所限，當時只能多用模型拍攝方式，三部曲(1977-1983)其實只是拍了他原構思科幻構想的三份一部份，其後由他親自補完了前傳系列(1999-2005)，自2012年星戰賣到迪士尼手上，迪士尼起動全新三部曲7-9集(2015-2019)並交由JJ艾伯斯掌舵接手將故事完結，星球大戰系列經歷了42年9部正傳電影，三世代電影技術的進步，一套殿堂級科幻電影系列巨著來到終結。而另外傳系列中仲包括有兩部電影，韓索羅(2018)與俠盜一號外傳(2016)兩部。

每個世代都有一個傳奇，天行者崛起以天行者家族的世紀結局為主線，新世代力量隨之崛起，爆發正邪終極大戰，將一個世代的傳奇推上全新巔峰！

銀河帝國皇帝白卜庭向全銀河宣告自己尚在人世，第一軍團最高領袖凱羅·忍與其達成協議，等到凱羅·忍把最後的絕地武士芮殺掉後，藏匿於「未知領域」艾克西格星（Exegol）的西斯艦隊「最終軍團」將納入第一軍團麾下，凱羅·忍會成為新銀河帝國的皇帝。

反抗軍勢力（英語：Resistance (Star Wars)）決心要除掉白卜庭以阻止帝國捲土重來，於是芮、芬恩、波·戴姆倫、BB-8與朱兒及C-3PO駕駛千歲鷹，一路行經帕薩納星（Passanna）、奇基米星（Kijimi）和凱夫伯星（Kef Bir）追查通往艾克西格星的線索，卻在這之中逐漸揭開了芮的身世。凱羅·忍向芮告知她的真實身分是皇帝的孫女，與身為維達之外孫的自己合起來便呈現了原力的二元性；凱羅·忍早已察覺白卜庭純粹只是利用自己來激發芮的真正本性，但凱羅·忍則希望能與芮聯手消滅皇帝來一起統治銀河。

芮拒絕凱羅·忍後與其在死星二號的遺跡上展開光劍激戰，途中莉亞·歐嘉納用盡原力向兒子勸導回頭，最後死亡。原本佔到上風的凱羅·忍因感應到母親之死而大受動搖，被芮趁隙刺中一劍，後者對前者仍舊懷抱光明的希望，就用原力治癒了對方。芮恐懼於自己乃是白卜庭的後代，更看到自己將成為西斯的幻象，於是搶走凱羅·忍的鈦戰機前去阿奇托星（Ahch-To）隱居。

凱羅·忍受到莉亞與芮的原力影響，還見到父親韓·索羅的幻影得到其原諒，因此回歸光明面恢復為班·索羅。阿奇托星上，盧克·天行者以絕地英靈的姿態向芮開導，能定義自身的不是血統而是做出的選擇，並將莉亞在絕地學徒時期使用的光劍交給芮。芮振作後駕駛盧克的X翼戰機，藉着凱羅·忍鈦戰機中的西斯尋路儀航往艾克西格星，並劃出安全的航線傳送給R2-D2，收到該訊息的抵抗勢力及藍多·卡利森便從全銀河召集舊反抗軍同盟和新共和國艦隊殘部向西斯艦隊發動大反攻。

芮前往艾克西格星面對白卜庭，班隨後到達打敗了改效忠於皇帝的忍武士團前往支援芮。在芮拒絕白卜庭希望她成為西斯女皇的提議後，白卜庭從芮與班兩人身上吸取二元性的原力而使自己恢復到最強大的程度，僅憑一人之力的原力閃電就癱瘓了抵抗勢力等全數船艦。遭白卜庭吸取原力而虛弱的芮，望着天空中反抗軍同盟已逐漸居於劣勢的戰況，突然從上千世代的絕地英靈呼喚聲中得到鼓勵奮力站起，使用天行者家族的兩把光劍將白卜庭的原力閃電給反彈回去，終究消滅了白卜庭。芮氣力放盡瀕亡，早已身受重傷的班把自己的生命用原力以吻的方式傳送給芮，代替她面對了死亡的命運，並幻化為絕地英靈。

抵抗勢力與盟友擊敗了西斯艦隊，全銀河各地的星球和新共和國殘部跟着紛紛起義推翻了第一軍團的統治，成功阻止了銀河帝國的回歸。最後，芮來到塔圖因星的盧克之故居旁邊，將安納金及莉亞兩人的光劍埋藏於此，並在盧克與莉亞的絕地英靈的肯定下，繼承其姓氏名為「芮·天行者」，手中也展示了自己製作的金黃色光劍，象徵將以絕地武士身分延續及守護絕地的信仰。

關於星球大戰：天行者崛起
本年度壓軸盛事，非話題電影《星球大戰》莫屬！今集更是整個系列最終章，事關重大，星戰迷當然要第一時間入戲院朝聖，可以預見星戰熱潮將會攀上全新巔峰！何況今次是《星球大戰：原力覺醒》導演 JJ 艾布斯 (JJ Abrams) 回歸掌舵，2015年的《星球大戰：原力覺醒》全球票房超越20億美元，更成為史上最高票房電影第3位，僅次於《阿凡達》和《鐵達尼號》，驕人往績令影迷對最新一集《星戰》期待度急升，相信JJ 艾布斯主導的全新史詩式太空歷險，將會再一次帶來超乎想像的驚喜！ 《星戰9》會以天行者家族的世紀結局為主線，新世代傳奇將會崛起，爆發正邪兩極的終極大戰。已確定回歸的演員陣容包括天行者麥克咸美 (Mark Hamill) 、Rey黛絲烈尼 (Daisy Ridley)、Kylo Ren阿當載華 (Adam Driver)、Finn 約翰保也加 (John Boyega)、Poe Dameron 奧斯卡依撒 (Oscar Isaac) 等。至於「莉亞公主」一角，已過世的嘉莉菲莎 (Carrie Fisher) 亦會參與「演出」。莉亞公主在星戰的地位無人能及，電影公司及導演堅拒以CG特技方式把她呈現。電影將會用上她在《星球大戰：原力覺醒》從未曝光的片段，作為最後一次喺大銀幕上對公主致敬。 而在迪士尼D23粉絲博覽會公開的最新預告片中，見到Rey與Kylo Ren持激光劍大戰，最後Rey更穿著斗篷，面容陰森神秘地手持雙紅色激光劍，加上大帝Empire的回歸，令影迷對劇情發展大為緊張，熱烈討論Rey會否如盛傳中在今集入魔，對電影更加超級期待！

製作       

2012年10月，《星球大戰》的創作者佐治·魯卡斯將自己的公司魯卡斯影業以及《星球大戰》系列的版權賣給華特迪士尼公司。迪士尼宣佈《星球大戰後傳三部曲》的電影計劃。2015年8月，宣佈哥連·卓法羅擔任電影導演，並與德瑞克·康諾利（英語：Derek Connolly）共同編寫劇本。原先宣佈由《星球大戰：最後絕地武士》導演萊恩·尊遜編劇，然而在2017年4月，尊遜表示他不會參與電影劇本的編寫，聲稱這是「舊資訊」。在2016年2月，迪士尼執行長羅拔·艾格證實第九集的前期製作已經開始。

2016年12月，嘉麗·菲莎去世後，據《綜藝》和《路透社》報導，菲莎將在第九集擔任重要角色。魯卡斯影業、迪士尼和其他有參與該電影的人並沒有透露他們計劃如何解決菲莎死亡的問題，以及她在電影中扮演什麼角色。2017年1月，魯卡斯影業表示，目前還沒有計劃菲莎以電腦成像演出。同年4月，菲莎的弟弟陶德·菲莎（Todd Fisher）透露，他和菲莎的女兒比莉·盧德授權迪士尼和魯卡斯影業在電影中使用菲莎最近的錄像，並不使用電腦成像演出。儘管如此，甘迺迪表示菲莎不會出現在電影中。月底，迪士尼宣佈電影將於2019年5月24日上映。一個月後，拍攝預計將於2018年1月開始。

2017年8月，據說傑克·索恩（Jack Thorne）將重寫劇本。2017年9月5日，魯卡斯影業發佈聲明表示卓法羅由於創作分歧而退出製作。據報導，在卓法羅獲得了多次編寫劇本草稿的機會之後，卓法羅和甘迺迪的關係變得難以管理。尊遜被認為是取代卓法羅擔任導演的首選，但他表示「我從未計劃過執導第九集」。一個星期後，宣佈《星球大戰：原力覺醒》導演J·J·艾布斯將回歸執導第九集。艾布斯也與克里斯·泰瑞歐共同編寫劇本，而且與甘迺迪和蜜雪兒·雷伊萬共同製片。迪士尼也將該電影的上映日期推遲至2019年12月20日。

拍攝       
主體拍攝於2018年8月1日在倫敦松林製片廠（Pinewood Studios）開始進行。劇組也在約旦的瓦地倫取景。演員奧斯卡·依撒表示，比起前兩作，導演艾布斯這次能接受更多演員的即興演出。由於時間緊迫，部分剪接作業直接與拍片同步進行。2019年1月28日，飾演C-3PO的安東尼·丹尼爾斯（Anthony Daniels）完工。2019年2月15日，該片的主要拍攝結束。

特技制作
該片的視覺效果由光影魔幻工業打造，羅渣·蓋耶特（Roger Guyett）擔任總監。此外，由於飾演莉亞將軍的演員嘉麗·菲莎已在2016年過世，因此該作品將使用前兩部作品未使用的片段並輔以特效的方式讓角色完整走完劇情。
