JUPITER ASCENDING is the second film plays by Channing Tatum that had to be postponed due to adding the 3D effects since G.I.JOE: RETALIATION, but both of them have one thing in common, they are poorly received.
JUPITER was set to release in 2014, however, WB thought if they repackaged it into a 3D action flick, it would be lucrative. Unfortunately, JUPITER doesn't do well at its boxoffice, now only reaches $96 million worldwide despite WB has spent $176 million on it . JUPITER seems gonna be a financial failure.
As a spectator, I never care how the films perform at their boxoffice, the only thing I care is what the films deliver me. For instance, WATCHMEN which was directed by Zack Snyder, was a financial failure, but what it gave me is an immaculate story and professional actors, it's one of my favourite super hero movies.
The directors of THE MATRIX TRILOGY directed JUPITER, they were brothers, but since the bigger one got through a transexual surgery, they became sister and brother!!
The actors perform well, the plot is too naive and unrealistic, there's a raft of CGI, but the film looks like a computer game more than what it's supposed to be.
To conclude, JUPITER ASCENDING is barely up to scratch.
