budget $20k to $30k seems not enough to have a good gear for CDP+amp+speaker ...
my first time setup two/three years ago:

rega appollo cdp $7k (UK made)
luxman 505u $17k (japan made)
Linn majik 109 bookshelf speaker $11k (UK made)
speaker cables around $2k
interconnect cables around $2k
not to mention new hifi rack and speaker stand ...

luxman 505u does not give thin vocal, instead it is a pretty good integrated amp given its price level versus performance ... neutral, powerful with lovely human voice ... my bookshelf speakers were good in both songs and orchestra, except for the light base output (which is common for bookshelf speaker at around $10k level) ...

all of my above gears were upgraded after one year ... and my taste remains no change ... pop music & songs, jazz, aged local songs, violin, orchestra ...

同意! 在同等Budget下的石機及膽機帶同一曲目CD到自巳喜歡品牌的代理試聽!
網上的討論區純屬參考，會幫到把器材品牌及型號範圍收窄，
每個品牌都都有自已的特質，沒有好或者不好，只有啱唔啱口味。
所以耳聽為實，抽時間出去走番轉!
