As per your request, I did some test.
With Samsung BR directly connected to Samsung TV, I placed a BR into Samsung BR.
- TV automatically switch to HDMI and play the movie
- when BR is turned off, TV will change to TV mode again
With Samsung BR connected through ONKYO 709 (OFF mode) to Samsung TV, I placed a BR into Samsung BR.
- ONKYO stays off
- TV remains in TV mode (have to manually change to HDMI)
- when change to HDMI, images and sound are on TV.
- when BR is turned off, TV remains in HDMI mode
With Samsung BR connected through ONKYO 709 (ON mode) to Samsung TV, I placed a BR into Samsung BR.
- TV changes to HDMI input
- ONKYO changes to BR input
when I turned off the Samsung BR
- TV changes back to TV mode
- ONKYO changes to TV
I forgot to check the firmware version of my ONKYO 709. but I have upgraded mine to a newer version last Friday. 回復 11# zori

In case two, you turn off the BR, 709 remains off and TV remains in HDMI.If the situation remain unchanged, you turn on other input source, e.g. xbox or PS3, will it show on TV?

I haven't test that senario.
I have recently moved my PS3 back to my bedroom to test out my PC and my cheap sound system. I may try this when I move my PS3 back to living room later next week. 回復 13# zori
