syeah Ching, I believe you are talking about the sound stage may not be as good or as wide as what you expect. Or the sound is not played to as so called "out-of-the-speakers".
Upgrading Amp and CDP will surely help, but may not be at just $10K level. Suggest you can map out the upgrade path, for example, my case, I locked my targets of Naim Nait XS and CD5XS but I upgraded my Amp first then after a few months then the CDP. it is also good because you can notice the difference of each step of upgrade.
And, looking at your pictures, to improve the sound stage you can move your Quad wider, and a little bit farther from the wall. This will improve the overall sound stage as well. I moved my speakers gradually out of the wall, and as wide as it can be, and can notice the difference of the sound stage. Now quite pretty satisfied.

Yes, I m actually thinking to increase the budget of my upgrade, otherwise I also think that there will not be signifcant improvement
Agree that I can move the speakers further from the ball, I have already done so so the "blooming" is quite serious, I also put some foam board on the wall to absorb excessive bass...
In fact I am satisified with my system until I listen to my friend's system - I think that there is much room for improvement to my current system... of cos, my friend use more expensive gears...
You can also move the Quad speakers wider. Noticed that there is a rack to store some accessories and underneath it's a subwoofer. Why not swap that with the right speaker? Try try.

比較transparency, airy,整體層次分明, 分析力高, 有立體感, 無禁侷促, 音場濶左, AV多 Elac,聽歌多 Atohm {:1_253:} 之後可能要換amp.
